Sony Ericsson Xperia Phones – A Look At Some Of Your Options

The Xperia series phones from Sony Ericsson are known for their emphasis on the more entertainment-oriented aspects of smartphones. Video, music, and social networking are these handsets’ specialty. Sony Ericsson originally launched the Xperia line in 2008, reviving a company that had been experiencing sluggish sales. Several models of phones exist under the Xperia banner, but there are a few that stand out.

Possibly at the top of the list is the Xperia X10. It is the culmination of a few years of taking what worked on previous models and improving upon it. It is an Android phone, utilizing the 2.1 OS with a speedy 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. Using the phone will likely not lead to eye strain, as the screen has a whopping 4-inch display. The keyboard is totally virtual, but it is very responsive and accurate, leading to fewer typing errors. An 8 megapixel camera ensures that photos will appear with a lifelike vibrancy, especially with the help of 3264 x 2448 pixel resolution. Movies are rendered in HD at 720p. The X10 maintains Sony Ericsson’s Timescape user interface that lets the user easily and quickly view and update his status on Facebook and Twitter. It is a social networking powerhouse.

If all of the features found on the X10 are more than necessary for you, the Xperia X10 Mini provides all of the basic X10 components in a more affordable package. Speed is not a problem for the phone, as it runs on Android 2.1 OS and a 600 MHz processor. Though not nearly as large as the X10’s, the Mini’s 2.55-inch screen is plenty adequate for those seeking efficiency over a cinematic adventure on their cell phone. The Timescape user interface is available on the X10 Mini as well, so the best parts of social networking on the X10 are here too. Texting isn’t quite so smooth on the X10 Mini’s smaller screen, but the Mini Pro comes complete with a sliding keyboard. Most other features on the Mini Pro are the same as those found on the X10 Mini.

If you are looking for the Android experience but don’t want to take out a second mortgage, the Xperia X8 offers the Android 1.6 OS that allows for an upgrade to 2.1. The screen is a humble 3 inches, but the idea is to keep the phone affordable. The user interface has been kept the same for the X8, making for a familiar Xperia encounter.

All of these models are the best representatives of the Xperia line of smartphones. They offer practicality with entertainment on powerful operating systems. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia phones only continue to impress.
